Set of 8 Gordon Russell Weston dining chairs

A set of 8 Gordon Russell oak dining chairs including 2 carver chairs C1930. Rare set of early Gordon Russell ltd chairs from the Weston range of furniture made in the new Broadway workshops. Early sets as these feature dovetail tenons on the toprails and arms and pegged mortice and tenon frames with vertical vase backsplat. All the frames are in completely solid condition although have at some point had metal L brackets attached between the legs and seat rails, these have been removed, any loose joints reglued and pegged and all screw holes plugged and coloured. All the chairs are stamped Gordon Russell ltd apart from one carver which I believe to be a later replacement. Unclear whether this chair was made by the Russell company or an independent cabinet maker but is identical in dimensions and construction as the other. All chairs have had their seat webbing replace, original seat pads reinstalled and recovered in Linwood Oak leaf velvet. Carver chair dimensions H92cm, W61cm, D52cm, Seat Height 50cm, arm height 68
